Engaging with Nature is an ancient and intuitive practice. Connecting with Nature allows our attention to soften and brings us into the present moment. Have you ever noticed this happening when you are looking out at the ocean, or standing among the trees, or observing the sky? Nature gives permission for us to commune with what is happening right now, in our bodies and in our surroundings. You might not consider yourself someone who meditates, but Nature has a way of allowing us to slip into mindful and meditative states with little effort. A simple way you can explore this is to step outside and notice what changes in your body that’s different from when you were indoors. Maybe you notice you are breathing more deeply. Maybe you feel lighter, or more energized.
Noticing the simple and powerful revelations that come from connecting with Nature is the foundation of the work we do at Rainbow Nature Therapy. With practice, the act of leaning into our bodily or felt sensations becomes natural to us.

An urban environment might seem like a less than ideal place to connect with Nature. We see this as a challenge to identify an oasis of green in a sprawling city, to look up at the sky, to be in awe of the strong little plants emerging from cracks in asphalt, and notice Nature is all around us.

"When you wake up and you see that the Earth is not just the environment, the Earth is us, you touch the nature of interbeing. And at that moment you can have real communication with the Earth. That is the highest form of prayer. In that kind of relationship, you will have the love, strength, and awakening you need to change your life."

Ria is an artist, licensed occupational therapist, and Nature lover. In 2024, she opened Rainbow Nature Therapy to create a space that bridges the disconnect between scientific inquiry and spiritual practice. In addition to her training as a mental health occupational therapist, she received Nature therapy training at the Somatic Nature Therapy Institute of Colorado, Trauma-informed Yoga training at the Center for Trauma and Embodiment, and sound healing training from the Sound Healing Studio.
She decided to open a private practice to create a safe environment where she can be in true collaboration with others, in a workplace that is healing to both herself and her clients, and to honor the intuitive, sacred, and restorative power of working with the land.
